GP World have a fantastic new opportunity for Band 5 Registered General Nurse in County Durham

Department:  Emergency Department  

Hours:  This is negotiable

Start Date: - As soon as possible

End date – 3-6-month Contract

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The post holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of care to patients in the Emergency setting. Be an effective team member of the Emergency Department Team.

DIMENSIONS OF THE JOB             

The post holder will be allocated to a place of work within the department and will be expected to prioritise the workload accordingly with the support of Health Care Assistants. The post holder maybe asked to co-ordinate the department for short periods of time in the absence of a more senior nurse.  

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Registered Nurse Level 1 Qualification required.

Effective communication skills and evidence of team work.

Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team / patient and their cares.

Previous experience of working in an Emergency Care setting would be an advantage.

Prioritisation of workload effectively.

Capable of working in a demanding environment.

To take on additional responsibilities in department area of speciality.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment of patients of all ages attending the Emergency Department.

Planning and delivery of nursing care that reflects current patient care needs.

Evaluation of care in collaboration with patient / carers and multidisciplinary team.

Named Nurse responsible for a group of patients in majors area of the department.

Involved in the care of trauma patients and resuscitation of critically unwell patients.

Accurate documentation of nursing care delivered.

Be a safe practitioner aware of own limitations and reporting any areas of concern to a more senior nurse.

Work effectively as part of a team.

Awareness of and co-operating in maintaining Accident and Emergency health care targets in the best interest of the patient.

Participate in teaching / training of more junior staff.

Follow policy and procedure accurately for Safeguarding.

Ongoing development of skills and knowledge to become a competent Emergency Department nurse.
